It seems the government is getting in the way of free men again. There is something called the CM, something to do with the mammals here that they have stopped the dredging. There is gold here and I have seen it but the powers to be are not in agreement. They do have a lot going on here but it is slow going. The owners of the Sundance have laid their claims to certain areas but cannot access them yet. They have the permission of the local government but the state of Alaska has put a stop to it. The talk is that it will be six months or so before any permits will be issued, if any. We’ll keep an eye on it. Everything is so secretive. Another boat showed up in the harbor with dredge equipment saying they were on their way to Nome but they are still here in the harbor. Two weeks now and they have tried the claim jumping tricks of old but Mark was quick to fly back to Anchorage and make sure his claims were good.

One day I was asked to go ashore with two handheld gps’s and mark the claims. Oh my god! I had to learn how to mountain climb. Not good for me. That job is for a much younger stronger man. And of course no one really knew how to use the gps's. A quick learning curve is important. The claims were one quarter mile apart and once I had to climb over a rock mountain and all the time walking in the boulders laid on the young beaches. There aren’t many sand beaches here in Alaska as these are some of the youngest mountains and beaches in the world. They spent milleniums covered in ice before they burst volcanoes into the sky. The ring of fire!

Rough beach on Popof Island Alaska

Extinct Aleut home on Unga Island

Sea Lion feeding in harbor

So it is now August 25 and I am home in Pasco County Florida and it feels good. My wife and dog are glad to see me and it feels so good to be in their embrace. I will post some more pictures of my Alaskan Adventure aboard the Sundance in the near future. For now go ahead and visit www.ourhomeideas.com and pick up something for your house!
There was one more opening for 24 hrs for fishing for the salmon. We did not reach our goal and there will be a fall run but I do not believe that we will be here for that.

We are exploring and dredging for gold. We also found a cave system that might be of interest to my good friend Paul Heinerth who is famous for his many cave expeditions. He mapped the cenotes in Akumal Mexico and worked on the Wakulla project along with his wife Jill. The big difference here is the water temp. It is hovering at a chilly 41 degrees. My friends at Middletown Scuba say that is nice as they are into ice diving in the winter, brrrrrr. Dry suits and a nice warm boat and all are well.

Our exploring has gone well and we are working on the main piece of equipment for the dredge operation. I awoke one morning in a small bay where there used to be a canning operation. All I could say was AWESOME! There also was a small village where the people that worked at the cannery all lived. It is a ghost town now. It is too bad as it is a beautiful location. I am going to dig into the real estate market here which is controlled mostly by several tribes that are now corporations. I have several ideas for businesses in the area and the fishing market is on the rise once again. I do believe I will put the Great Escape 4 to work and look into building the Great Escape 5. Ahh the thrill of adventure is running thru my veins. It is so great to be back in my true environment.

UNGA ISLAND

EXTINCT CANNERY

Waterfall on Unga Island

The internet connections have been very sparse up here but there will be more tro come!

Remember to visit ourhomeideas.com

SUNDANCE LOG JULY 2011

The Sundance Log

July 2011

It’s a new month and July Fourth came and went. We had a barbeque for lunch. Cheeseburgers, Boars Head hot dogs (they made it all the way from Florida), French fries, potato and macaroni salad and all the trimmins. The Sundance is a very stable boat and we tuck in behind an island if the weather gets rough.

Picking the fish from the net is a job for a young guy who is in good shape. If there is only a couple fish it’s not bad but when it’s loaded it’s a back breaker. With all my physical problems I have to stay away from that. I am playing steward right now which is pretty cool. Some days I work in my pajamas. Very cool. It has to be flannel pants not silk boxers. Heheheheh.

We see gray whales all the time. Larry and Ty saw a grizzly bear on one of the beaches. He was just standing there. Hunting bears is ridiculously expensive. You need a tag and you must have a guide. All in all it’s around 5 grand. Phew. The Alaskan state troopers told me you can hunt all the wolves you want. We are only a couple miles from the mainland so on a really nice day I am going to check it out. I must get my license first though.

Things are really getting better for me. I have a pretty good plan in the galley now. Mark, who is the main owner, likes a really clean galley. It’s a nice galley and looks great when it’s all cleaned up. Maggie taught me well about that cleaning as you go. It makes things so much easier.

I can’t wait to start dredging for the gold. Mark and I are going over some of the design problems. When we get set up I will be dive master on the dredge. We must have calm weather for that operation. We are going to continue fishing here in July. The goal is 200,000 pounds of salmon. That will make everybody some money. And keep the whole thing rolling along.

I really miss my wife and dog!!

We caught 2 salmon sharks. Pretty impressive. Thank god the boat has a crane. I cut out the jaws and we had some fillets to eat and I made shark fin soup. It was all pretty good. I put some chopped clams in the soup and made like a Manhattan clam chowder. An aphrodisiac. Just what we need on a boat full of men heheheheh

Things have been great. The crew gets along good and we have had some good fishing days. Larry and Mike say that we could do better. I hear that it’s slow everywhere. Our goal is 200,000 pounds and we are half way there.

A fellow fisherman I met is also a bear guide. He has some great stories. If we make enough I am going for the bear hehehehe. His company has several different kinds of hunts. I would really like to take Billybob. It would be the hunt of a lifetime.

It was a herendous trip up from the deep south with a weekend stop over in New Mexico to attend my son’s wedding. He married a beautiful woman that has a great family. The whole wedding experience was a wonderful thing. The New Mexico mountains were a perfect backdrop for a spectacular service.

I arrived alone in Anchorage airport at 11:00 pm Alaska time which is 4 hours earlier than Florida and 2 hours earlier than my departure point in Phoenix Arizona. The sun is still up, oooooo the land of perpetusal sunlight in the summer. The temperature also went down a quick 60 degrees. Brrrrr is what I felt as I stood on the platform awaiting my shuttle bus to the motel for the 12.5 hour layover. I was tired, excited and emotionally played out all at the same time.

I already missed my lovely wife and my pretty dog.

After a few hours of sleep I’m up and milling around the motel room. It’s time to setup some communications. I start playing with the Skype program and get engrossed to a point that I’m making training video’s and jotting down notes for my wife and mother-in-law.

Before you know it it’s time to head back out to the airport for the flight to Sand Point. My gear is finally in order and packed nice so the trip to the airport is a breeze. Getting checked in is a trip. I stood in line at the Alaska Airlines check in for 15 minutes only to be told that I was at the wrong gate, Penn-Air handles the Island flights for us I was told. Where is that gate? I ask. The response is not what I want. Over on the other side of the airport down on the tarmac level is where you need to be. Arrrghhh the driver had me there originally but decided to take me back up to the main airport gates because we didn’t see any Alaska airline gates. So off I go a runnin. Along the way I had to stop and take a pic of a stuffed bear and caribou. I get checked in and the signs seem to take me in a circle back out past the security gate and around. Huh I kept thinking, I don’t want to miss another flight as I missed two flights already on this trip. Then there it was, L gates and Penn Air. Checked in and was told the plane would be leaving shortly so I sat right down there to wait.

The flight had one stop in King Salmon for fuel and off to Sand Point. The plane was a shiny Saab Turbo prop and pretty smooth. All thru the flight I was snapping pictures out the window because the scenery was so cool. At least while we were below the cloud cover. The farther out we got the more clouds there were. We descended to Sand point and burst out of the clouds about 150 feet off the ground. Nice flyin fella’s but I was the only one that clapped. I guess everybody wasn’t as happy as I was to be there. The plane almost took off with one of my bags and Rick’s camera that I was taking to the boat for him. A pretty blond counter girl at the airport flagged down the plane and got my stuff. Right on!

I hooked up with Jesus the driver for Trident Seafood who was to be my taxi driver All day I drove around with him and hung out as my boat, the M/V Sundance was out fishing. Supposedly I was to catch a tender and go out to the boat. Jesus was a wealth of information and after talking to Mark, the owner/skipper on the boat I was to purchase my Alaska commercial fishing license. That turned out to be a little more difficult than I had expected. The license was $200. And my wife’s American Express card was not working. Oops I guess I was a little too heavy with it on the way up. Finally I got Mark to put a gift card on his Trident Seafood account. License paid for and $100 bucks to spend in the Trident sea store. Got me some chapstick, a pair of boots and a bottle of water, All I had was sneakers and it was raining and muddy outside. I communicated with the boat again and a tender wasn’t scheduled to the next morning. Jesus suggested the Anchor Inn which was walking distance from the docks and had a little bar. I rented a room had a cheeseburger, a shot of some killer vodka and two Heineken lights and and off to bed I went. I had 75 cents left and no working credit cards.

After a 9 hour rest I was up and the sun was out again. There is only 4 hours of somewhat dusk at night. There was a different girl cleaning the bar so I went in with my netbook to hook up to the internet and take care of business. About half way thru I thought I saw Jesus in his white Trident van. I ran out but it wasn’t him. Now the internet was down. I packed up my stuff and went back to the room. I put all my valuables in my computer bag and my carry on. Strapped them babies on and went for a walk. Up the hill to the post office and the ACE store. Nothing at the post office and the lady informed me that I had to have the key to pick anything up. At the Ace store my Amex card still will not pop out any money in the ATM, huh? Then I hiked back down the hill and stopped at the town hall and met the town clerk. Very nice girl about 25 or so 5’10” dressed in typical wool and boots. Asked about work for my wifie the RN so she took down my contact info and said she would get with me if there was anything. She also said to contact the clinic with the info. Down the hill toward my room and Trident Seafood I went. Now it was raining and the road was pretty muddy but on the side was a sidewalk made of wood with treads. Pretty clever I thought. Everything was a dismal grey and the clouds were hanging right on the peaks of Popov Island the home of Sand Point and Trident Seafood. Along comes Jesus with a couple guys so I jump in his van for a little ride around the island. Not much to it. Some giant white wind generators loom high in the sky but they are not turning at all. Jesus tells me they look good, been there for a couple years but he thinks the power company is still working on them. He has a round face with dark dark eyes and curly hair sticking out of his watch cap and always has a smile on his face. We talk about all kinds of things, women, food, guns, knives, whatever. He’s the kind of jolly guy that loves to talk about everything. He constantly has a high pitched giggle after everything he says or you say. Life is just funny for him. He’s a native of the high mountains in Chili. Huh they told me he was Mexican. Anyway he can’t remember how he got here exactly but he’s been with Trident for 16 years. He is actually the waste warehouse manager and also the general run around guy.

I spoke with the boat again and they wanted me to check the prices and dates on the milk at the ace store and check with Trident to see if the new nets were in. Jesus volunteered to run me around, he had to go toi the airport and post office anyway. Along the way I borrowed this girls phone to call Maggie my loverly wife. The phone was Alaska wireless and she had the unlimited plan. Great. Mags is still upset about the whole ordeal but I try to calm her down. Kiss the dog for me honey! When I was telling the boat the prices and stuff they told me they would be at the fuel dock at around 1:30. Good deal.

The two Alaskan guys running the fuel dock had rock and roll blasting at about 3 million decibels. Very cool. When they turned it down I asked if I could stash my gear in their office for a little while till the Sundance came in. A ok as long as there were no explosives. We got talking, they have a band and are looking for a drummer. Score. They even have a drum set back at their house so we make a date to hook up and jam when the boat comes in. I’ve always been a drummer and can fake it with the best of em.

The Sundance arrived right on time. Aboard were Mark, Larry, Nate and Tyler. I knew Tyler already as he was Ricks son. He’s about 6 ft now. When I first met him he was 5 years old. Man time goes by. I got all my gear onboard and helped with the water and garbage. Off the fuel dock we went and around the corner to the main dock. Mark was handling the boat with Larry coaching him. He did a fine job, nice and easy. Over at the main dock it was a piece of cake as the wind blew us right in.

After the boys did their errands and Larry swapped out for his brother Mike, we pulled off the dock. Mark had me at the wheel already, far out I thought. It was a piece of cake as we sprung out with a stern quarter springer line and put the bow directly in the wind, throttle up and we’re off. Good to be back I The Sundance is really a beautiful boat with a midships wheel house, stern galley, 3 generators, 350, 3406 caterpiller, 10,000 pound crane on the bow and a high rise bow. Nice.

I was to be the steward also at first. The galley was mine! It took a few days to get used to it and I had signs all over so I could remember stuff. The first few days I was sicker than hell. I must have caught something on the plane or airport or the trip just drained me. Every day when I spoke to Maggie she was bitcin and moanin so that didn’t make anything better. I love her though. She is my soulmate.

I miss my wife and dog, in that order.

I came out of it in about 4-5 days aqnd was my old self again. Talking too much, singing and just generally being loud. These guys are all so quiet. I had no music in the galley so it started to get monotonous. They wouldn’t let me go out in the skiff because the fishing was slow and the weather was bad. We had 40 – 50 knot winds for a few days, then some 30’s and it finally calmed down. We are fishing in San Diego Bay with Larry and Mike. They are the permit holders Alakan Native’s, They are using set nets to catch the salmon. One end of the net is attached to a rock or the beach and it stretches out about 600-700 ft and then makes a hook for about 100 feet. The salmon just get plugged in the net. They tend the nets all day (20 hours of light) with 2 aluminum skiffs with outboard motors. On the second week I got a ride out to the nets in the skiff and picked one fish. It was really nice out. Then the next day the sockeye salmon came through for a run and I was put to work. We picked 12,000 pounds of salmon out of the nets. Man that was backbreaking work. Mark said that was the only time I would have to go out picking the nets. Only when the fish are there, the rest of the time the boys would pick. Thank god! It was pretty interesting though. Sockeye and King Salmon is what we wanted. There are also chum and pink salmon but they don’t bring as much money.

I got the galley down now and was making cookies and brownies every day and even baking bread successfully. Maggie had taught me well. All in all it’s a great experience, something new and different. We are going to continue fishing for a little bit then start prospecting for the GO9D. I have seen it! Its here and we will get it! The new gold rush. We will be dredging in 5 to 30 feet of water. I can’t wait. I will be the divemaster on the dredge. That’s what I’m really here for. Gold rush baby!~

After 2 weeks we are back in port. The salmon season is closed for a couple days so I will reprovision and the boys will be working on the nets. Time to get an internet connection!

Some people are just too selfish. Why tell an employee you are going to pay them a certain amount and then say "I changed my mind. I should have never said that." ???????? Well we'll see what the system has to say about it all. I am not condemning all Liberty Tax Franchises as they are only a franchise and each owner deals with things differently.
I saw them at Your Tax and Insurance Solutions of New Port Richey act very unprofessional several times I was there so I really shouldn't be surprised when they had no consideration for me as a person. Who ever heard of a professional organization letting someone go with a voice mail? After watching the manager let someone else go in the front office in front of customers should have given me a clue. I did tell them that I felt as though I was not qualified to do the job but they asked me to work anyway under the auspices of "if you make a mistake we will treat it as a learning experience" Then I get let go for "making mistakes" HUH?????

Oh well I will trudge along!!
The humidity abated for a day or two and we were real close to heaven here in West Central Florida!

85 n breezy was just fine for a land locked sailor of sorts.

The Ocean Conservancy's International Coastal Cleanup took place in Hudson once again. People gathered at the Hudson Boat ramp and searched the local area for garbage. Teams of volunteers were also dispatched to special areas of noticable need.

Jeff Sylvan, President of The Hudson Seafest was there volunteering and showing off Patty Woji's contribution of a full trailer of debris that took her a week to load somewhere here in Hudson.

It took a bunch of yung ins a fraction of the time to unload that thing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jeff also came upon some hidden treasure in the parking lot of the Hudson boat ramp?? A vending sort of looking machine intended to charge the users of the ramp a fee?? The county commision is set to vote on whether or not they should spend the money on them on this Tuesday. Thats somethin ain't it? They installed it before they even voted on it. Jeff questioned a county employee about it and got "I guess we jumped the gun on that" or something real close to that. Amazing and who is going to check up on this remote thing? I guess we will learn Tuesday afternoon if we are going to get these things that are already there.

Another change that had a resident jubilous was the parking changes. You can now park a car in the trailer parking lot after 7 pm. In the past that was a ticketable offense.

And so Hudson is alive and kickin!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you live by these Dog Rules you will be a happier person!
There's a lot we humans can learn from dogs. If you live your life by the same philosophy that dogs do, you will be much better off in life. In the wild animals fight for only two things, not a fancy car, not clothes or jewelry, they just fight for food and a mate. Everything else they get after that is just pure happiness.

DOG PHILOSOPHY:

1. Never pass up the opportunity to go for a joy ride.
2. Allow the experience of fresh air and wind in your face to be pure ecstasy.
3. When loved ones come home, always run and greet them.
4. When its in your best interest always practice obedience.
5. Let others know when they've invaded your territory.
6. Take naps and always stretch before rising.
7. Run, romp and play daily.
8. Eat with gusto and enthusiasm.
9. Be loyal.
10. Never pretend to be something you are not.
11. If what you want lies buried, dig until you find it.
12. When someone is having a bad day, be silent, sit close by and nuzzle them gently.
13. Delight in the simple joys of a long walk.
14. Thrive on attention and let people touch you.
15. Avoid biting when a simple growl will do.
16. On hot days, drink lots of water and lie under a shady tree.
17. When you are happy, dance around and wag your entire body.
18. No matter how often you are criticyzed, don't buy into that guilt thing and pout. Run right back and make friends.

2nd Amendment

Hey Everybody,
I thought you would enjoy this story out of Atlanta, Georgia. If you do, please forward it to your friends.

College student shoots home invader, saves 10 lives

Yet another reason to keep a gun in the house . . .

Last year, in the notoriously dangerous neighborhood of College Park in Atlanta, Georgia, two armed criminals broke into a house party of students.

After confiscating the group's valuables, the invaders split the men and women up into different rooms.

Witnesses say the perpetrators then counted their rounds and discussed if they had "enough" ammunition.

The students believe the gunmen were going to rape and murder the entire group of students, who were celebrating a birthday at the end of the semester.

However, one male student, whose identity is being protected by police and local media, retrieved a handgun from his backpack and fired at the thug who was detaining the men.

(That is: One smart student had prepared for a night in College Park, Atlanta.)

The criminal fled the apartment under the threat of injury and never returned.

The student, continuing on into the girls' room, found the other thug, 23-year-old Calvin Lavant, preparing to rape his first victim.

The student exchanged gunfire with Lavant, lethally wounding him in the process. Lavant fled through a window and died in front of his apartment, only one building away.

One of the female students was injured during the exchange, but doctors expect a full and complete recovery.

So what's the point

A student saved the girls from rape, and saved the whole group of 10 people (including himself) from murder . . . and he did it with a handgun.

This is a perfect example of how ludicrous "big city gun laws" are. What if this had happened in New York, Chicago, or any of the other big cities that criminalize their citizens' self defense?

Yes, we would be reading an entirely different story -- one so horrendous that we would shudder at the very words.

Either this whole group of friends would have been raped and murdered by these two sorry excuses for human beings . . . or the hero of this story would be facing prison time for firearm possession and murder.

Thankfully, however, Atlanta hasn't outlawed self-defense yet. And since someone had a gun and was willing to use it, innocent life was preserved.

Congratulations to the unnamed hero of this story. You saved your friends' lives.

I JUST SPENT SOME TIME BEING REAL UPSET ABOUT OUR COUNTRY!

I read this article by a rancher in Aspen Colorado and he had some great insight into what is happening here in America the beautiful!

HERE IT IS~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Barack Obama has awakened a Sleeping Nation. Interesting point of view, and one I had not thought of. I "googled" the author's name, and saw the Aspen times article, so appears authentic. Agree or disagree, you'll probably still find this interesting.

The article below was written by Gary Hubbell, a rancher, fishing guide and real estate agent, in Aspen Colorado of all places....Someone picked this up and began circulating it. To confirm its authenticity, someone emailed Gary and received the following reply:

Yes, indeed, I did write that. Thanks for your compliments.

Barack Obama is the best thing that has happened to America in the last 100 years. Truly, he is the savior of America 's future.

Despite the fact that he has some of the lowest approval ratings among recent presidents, history will see Barack Obama as the source of America 's resurrection. Barack Obama has plunged the country into levels of debt that we could not have previously imagined; his efforts to nationalize health care have been met with fierce resistance nationwide; TARP bailouts and stimulus spending have shown little positive effect on the national economy; unemployment is unacceptably high and looks to remain that way for most of a decade; legacy entitlement programs have ballooned to unsustainable levels, and there is a seething anger in the populace.

That's why Barack Obama is such a good thing for America . Here's why.

Obama is the symbol of a creeping liberalism that has infected our society like a cancer for the last 100 years. Just as Hitler is the face of fascism, Obama will go down in history as the face of unchecked liberalism. The cancer metastasized to the point where it could no longer be ignored.

Average Americans who have quietly gone about their lives, earning a paycheck, contributing to their favorite charities, going to high school football games on Friday night, spending their weekends at the beach or on hunting trips - they've gotten off the fence. They've woken up. There is a level of political activism in this country that we haven't seen since the American Revolution, and Barack Obama has been the catalyst that has sparked a restructuring of the American political and social consciousness.

Think of the crap we've slowly learned to tolerate over the past 50 years as liberalism sought to re-structure the America that was the symbol of freedom and liberty to all the people of the world. Immigration laws were ignored on the basis of compassion. Welfare policies encouraged irresponsibility, the fracturing of families, and a cycle of generations of dependency. Debt was regarded as a tonic to lubricate the economy. Our children left school having been taught that they are exceptional and special, while great numbers of them cannot perform basic functions of mathematics and literacy. Legislators decided that people could not be trusted to defend their own homes, and stripped citizens of their rights to own firearms. Productive members of society have been penalized with a heavy burden of taxes in order to support legions of do-nothings who loll around, reveling in their addictions, obesity, indolence, ignorance and "disabilities." Criminals have been arrested and re-arrested, coddled and set free to pillage the citizenry yet again. Lawyers routinely extort fortunes from doctors, contractors and business people with dubious torts.

We slowly learned to tolerate these outrages, shaking our heads in disbelief, and we went on with our lives.

But Barack Obama has ripped the lid off a seething cauldron of dissatisfaction and unrest.

A former Communist is given a paid government position in the White House as an advisor to the president. Auto companies are taken over by the government, and the auto workers' union - whose contracts are completely insupportable in any economic sense - is rewarded with a stake in the company. Government bails out Wall Street investment bankers and insurance companies, who pay their executives outrageous bonuses as thanks for the public support. Terrorists are read their Miranda rights and given free lawyers. And, despite overwhelming public disapproval, Barack Obama has pushed forward with a health care plan that would re-structure one-sixth of the American economy.

Literally millions of Americans have had enough. They're organizing, they're studying the Constitution and the Federalist Papers, they're reading history and case law, they're showing up at rallies and meetings, and a slew of conservative candidates are throwing their hats into the ring. Is there a revolution brewing? Yes, in the sense that there is a keen awareness that our priorities and sensibilities must be radically re-structured. Will it be a violent revolution? No. It will be done through the interpretation of the original document that has guided us for 220 "FANTASTIC" years--- the Constitution. Just as the pendulum swung to embrace political correctness and liberalism, there will be a backlash, a complete repudiation of a hundred years of nonsense. A hundred years from now, history will perceive the year 2010 as the time when America got back on the right track. And for that, we can thank Barack Hussein Obama.
Holy crap I used to be able to drive straight thru, phew. This year on the way up I slept 2.5 hours and on the way home 3.5 hours, so not too bad. The vehicle makes a difference. We are driving a big ass Cadillac Escalade. Its used but we wash it an everybody thinks its new. I priced a new one ahahahahahahahah, First they don't make the big one like we have the ESV. I believe that means extra special vehicle. heheheh. We have the big 6 liter engine. the carburetor is a coffee can on the top of the motor. When you push down on the gas pedal it just pours the gas in at a high rate hehehehehe. No really believe it our not we averaged 17 miles to the gal round trip. We were pretty light goin up but I cut down a big White birch tree and brought it home. I know birch burns fast but I will leave then whole n they will be a perfect parrty log. While Mag was wafting her Mom I painted from the moment I got up in the morning till dinner at 7pm. PHEW 15 gals of blue stain. I was looking like a smurf on thurs night. I think I still have soem blue on me.
When I arrived home I was talking in a southern accent and blabbering strange stories about Pammy and Tammy = "Road Whores" heheheh There we was cruisin on the big road in SC. It is 4 lanes wide and if you are not goin 80 people are flashing lights and shit. Its the area where they used concrete and every 100 ft or so there is an expansion joint. So the road goes hummmm bump hummmmm bump hummmm bump there is no falling asleep in SC. Any way we see this Black chick on the side of the road so Maggie being the Good Samaritan says lets stop and see if she needs a ride. Well slowin down the Escalade filled with a birch tree takes a good 1/4 mile. Up the black chick comes running , Maggie rolls her window down and with the biggest brightest gold teeth this chick says " Hi I'm Pamela and I'm a ROAD WHORE"
ahahahahahahah I said "hey this is my wife please have a little respect". She said " i'll take care of her too if you'll get me down to the next truck stop, I have to meet my friend Tammy and we r goin cross country. Three meals a day n a air conditioned sleeper." yewwwweeee them truckers r awfully nice guys ifn ya rub some skin on them and shift their shifter into high gear if ya know what I mean. I said"i'm gonna have to pass right now good luck" She said "no problem there will be some horney trucker coming along BYE"
Another road experience for my book "On the road with Capt Dennis" It is not released yet but keep an eye on www.ourhomeideas.com for a release.
I have always wrote to my elected officials to let them know where at least this constituent stands on political matters. I have always said "If you don't voter you can't gripe". Well I vote!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just recently I wrote to all my guys, actually I faxed all my elected representatives in state and federal positions thru NUMBERS USA. They provide a FAX Buffet which you can choose from pre made letters and spice em up. it really makes it easier than ever to get the pointy across. My US REpresentative Gus Bilirakis wrote me back agreeing with everything I said and pointed out where he has made a stand and a move on the situation. After looking at lots of information we could be digging ourselves out of the hole right now by putting an end to this loose immigration policy and I don't want to have to press 1 to speak English. This is not an International Flight it is a country and we speak English here and we pay taxes. NO_ONE I repeat myself NO_ONE should get any benefits from my tax money if they are not paying into the system!!! Flat OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hers is the letter from GUS:

A date to remember!

Why?

Its really the proper day to celebrate July 4th because of the way our calender is July 6 is really July 4 due to the rotation of the earth and the lunar cycle in combination with the Obama Presidency.

Get your supplies now!

I was just reading an article in Time Magazine about the way our government is functioning right now and wow its worse than the Clintoid era!

Nothing is getting done due to the Republican refusal to accept anything the Obama administration wants. Filibustering is at an all time high. There has never been so much separation in the system ever!

FREEDOM

ITS JUST ANOTHER WAY OF SAYING FREE MEN.

Our forefathers are rolling over in their graves. Oh no wait aren't some of them still in the supreme court?

Someone please explain to me why there are so many old codgers in Government? Isn't the government supposed to represent a cross section of our society?

So I dug a little more and said are ya down by Phoenix or up by Alberquerque? He chuckled and said yeah Phoenix, Alberquerque is in New Mexico. Halleleuya a real American to talk to! After explaining to him what happened, that i typed and uploaded pictures for an hour and then it just logged me off and when i logged back in it was all gone. He verified me being me and put me on hold. After a few minutes came back and asked "Are you sure you typed anything in that entry, Memorial Day because all I can find is the entry name and nothing else.

oil spill

So what does everybody think about the oil spill. I am worried to say the least. If it comes near the Florida Middle Grounds it could kill those magnificent reefs that we all love so much. There will be nothing man can do to stop it at 100 feet deep!
Boat US has set up a site for info that is pretty good, www.boatus.com/oilspill
On a more fun note the Seafest is coming along! It is going to happen again like in the years gone by. Lots of entertainment, food and fun!
The chairman of the actual seafest celebration did not show so I still don't know whether it was profitable or not. All I do Know id that the 2 things I was involved in both made money! Not a lot but they did make money!

Mags and I have been looking into alternative energy sources for our home and have been real surprised at some of the things we've seen.

One thing that is readily available to us here in Florida is the solar hot water effect. We were happy to hear that the Govt is offering a $2500 dollar tax credit for that. our first estimate was $8500. We are going to look hard and seriously into this. Besides the actual $$$ savings I do believe it will make the home more valuable and more attractive to buyers.

A quick link to do something!!!

The Sierra Club will collect all our stories and deliver them to the Senate with a message - "support the great local work Americans are doing across the country by passing strong, clean energy and climate legislation.

http://action.sierra club.org/mystory

I just haven't had a chance since we have been home. Just playing catch up since we have been home is a chore. I am letting little things like the guy who was supposed to be watching the house get to me. He told me that a sprinkler head came off a couple weeks ago. Well anybody who knows anything about sprinklers knows if one head comes off that section will not work correctly. Just an email to me and I would have told him if you can't fix it hire someone, but no nothing was done and we lost some grass in that area. The back yard is gone and my home watchers reply was i noticed it not looking so good but he never checked to see if those sprinklers were working so we lost the whole back yard. I guess its my fault for relying on a friend as opposed to hiring a professional. What its going to cost to replace that lawn I could have hired a landscape company. oh well live and learn. I wonder at what point in my life I will gain enough understanding to get thru a day???
One of my biggest problems in business has been hiring people that i think are my friends.
WELL enough of my whining. I seem to be in a whiny mood right now. Its 12:pm an I think i will try a little Bushmills to settle me down. Ii got in the habit of putting a spot of the Irish in me coffee while abroad, its so nice, ya can cut down on the sugar heheheheheh.
I just have to say that Maggie and I enjoyed ourselves beyond words. We created memories that will be etched in my mind forever. Like seeing Maggie drunk at 1:30 in the afternoon at the wine and cheese tasting = PRICELESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! or me falling down in the crowd while climbing the marble hill to get close to the Acropolis and the Parthenon. I am convinced that those guys who built those buildings were spacemen!!!!!
We found a little compound in Waterville Ireland that if I won the lottery I would buy for Maggie. Its 3 or 4 apts on the Ballenskellig Bay surrounded by a rock wall. I swear Frodo could have come walking out the door and I wouldn't have been surprised! If anyone out there has a spare million contact me and we'll get workin on it!
I was truly inspired on this trip and am going to get myself back to the mindset i had 25 years ago. I CAN DO ANYTHING!

KEEP WATCHING FOR THE LINKS TO COME TO THE SLIDE SHOWS.
Tis the last night of our VACATION OF A LIFETIME and I am laying on the bed with my neat little ruby red Acer netbook gathering my thoughts. O M G is all I can really say. Today I am totally awestruck with our tour of the Vatican City and the Sistine Chapel. I blew through both the batteries for my digital camera just about right on time. There was still room on the 8 GB card that I had bought and just a touch of juice in the second battery.

Sunday night was Maggie's birthday and I got us a table at Benini's Roof Top terrace outside. St. Peters dome was in sight right from our table. Standing up and walking a few paces and you could see the Coliseum all lit up. WOWA WOW. I accidently ordered too much food because the menu was in Italian and it took me 3 Bacardi Breezers and 1 Nuestra beer to find the place. We took a cab over and back and I had words with both cabbies. As soon as you sit in the car the meter goes to 5.80 euro's?????? So guess what = no tip!

Atop a hotel celebrating Maggies 19th birthday. Hmmmm i'm showing the European cuisine eh?

There is just so much art it is astounding. Our tour guide said that if you were to stop at each piece on display and spend 1 minute it would take 17 years to see it all. At first I was skeptical but once we entered the halls filled from floor to ceiling with art dating back to the 6th century BC I was blown away. The true Renaissance greats were all represented, Michelangelo, Raphael and of course Leonardo Da'vinci. Our senses were bombarded with frescos', bronzes, marble and tapestries. And at the conclusion we were left to wander around in St Peters Basilica on our own and Maggie and I spent an hour and a half right there in the Basilica. The tomb to St Peter is right under the church. It took 150 years to form the cathedral itself and it is constantly being renovated and added to. As different interpretations of the bible come thru they even make alterations to the actual works of art on the walls. Security was amazing and of course you could not take any pics in there.

Papal guards. Notice the sabres, not much defense against an AK47 but there were other armed guards everywhere but you were not allowed to take their pictures for security reasons.

The stories about Michelangelo and the other artists were fascinating. I am so physically tired and wasted I need a vacation from my vacation! I have truly been inspired by the art but was dismayed about the hypocrisy that goes on in the Catholic Church. Popes have had children, some even kept several wives. Truly amazing! My mind has trouble bending around those thoughts. In high school I started drifting away from the Catholic discipline due to the overt hypocrisy going on right in front of my eyes. Today it stunned me that everyone can idly talk about being devout and believing with faith that transcends the day to day life we all have and yet the church leaders are all breaking the rules they set down for the general population. So much do as I say not as I do going on.

The Popes quarters are on the top floor and the third window to the left is his bedroom. I wonder who he is preaqching to tonight.

Enough about my religious feelings. I want to say that this trip has truly been an inspiration to me. My love for my wife grew even more. I am so proud of her as a person and feel lucky to the bone to have her. As we fishermen say she is a "keeper".

MY SOUL MATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
